Baseball Recap: Jefferson Comes Up Short

If Jefferson was riding high fresh off their 18-1 takedown of Denver West last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Jefferson Saints took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rocky Mountain Lutheran Eagles on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Saints of the 9-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Demetrius Martinez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out ten batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Guillermo Lopez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Ed Sanchez, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-4.

Jefferson now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Rocky Mountain Lutheran, they pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jefferson will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on SkyView Academy at 4:00 p.m. on March 25th. As for Rocky Mountain Lutheran, they will face off against Platte Canyon at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
