The Bishop McNamara Fightin' Irish will face off against Chicago Hope Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop McNamara will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
On Monday, Bishop McNamara was able to grind out a solid win over Harvest Christian Academy, taking the game 14-9.
Taylor Fuerst was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Callahan O'Connor, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI and two doubles.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three game, Chicago Hope Academy brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. Everything went their way against Amundsen on Saturday as they made off with a 12-1 victory. Chicago Hope Academy might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.
Davian Villalobos made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Matthew Mendez, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Aj Lajeune, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Chicago Hope Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Amundsen only posted an OBP of .320.
Chicago Hope Academy is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop McNamara, they pushed their record up to 21-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
