Baseball Recap: Orland Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Orland had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Gridley on Friday. The Trojans put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 10-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Roy Alexander spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kannon Gunness, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jackson Newham, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

The victory (which was Orland's third in a row) raised their record to 15-6-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Gridley, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-9.
