Whitewater's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They claimed a resounding 49-20 win over the Starr's Mill Panthers. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Wildcats just coasted through the last quarter.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Whitewater to victory, but perhaps none more so than Case Roberts, who threw for 163 yards and three TDs while completing 80% of his passes, and also rushed for 134 yards on only six carries. Those 163 passing yards gave Roberts a new career-high. Another rusher making a difference was Jacob Ross, who gained 118 total yards and three touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Whitewater was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 366 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 255 rushing yards in five consecutive contests dating back to last season.

The victory got Whitewater back to even at 1-1. As for Starr's Mill, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whitewater will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Troup County at 7:30 p.m. on September 5. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 959 yards in their previous games. As for Starr's Mill, they will take on Veterans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
