Baseball Recap: Upper Dauphin Area Comes Up Short

Upper Dauphin Area dropped their record down to 9-10 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 6-0 to the Susquenita Blackhawks. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Trojans' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Susquenita, their record now sits at 13-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.

For Susquenita's part, the result came thanks to Ryan Schoppy's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks. Schoppy has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Justin Reidlinger was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Billy Syster, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Upper Dauphin Area will challenge Line Mountain at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Susquenita, they will square off against Newport at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blackhawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Buffaloes have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
