Baseball Recap: Johnsburg Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Johnsburg hadn't done well against Grayslake North recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Skyhawks blew past the Knights 13-2. Considering the Skyhawks have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Nate Frost looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

At the plate, Riley Johnson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Landon Johnson, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Johnsburg hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive contests.

Johnsburg pushed their record up to 20-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Grayslake North, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-20.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Johnsburg will venture away from home to face off against Marian Central Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Hurricanes will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Grayslake North, they will challenge Antioch at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Sequoits' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
