Basketball Recap: Hauser Comes Up Short

Hauser lost against Morristown back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Hauser Jets were outmatched by the Morristown Yellow Jackets and fell 72-28. The Jets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-10.

Despite the loss, Hauser saw an underclassman step up: sophomore June Berkenstock went 6 for 7 on her way to 12 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Those four steals gave Berkenstock a new career-high. Ava Dempsey also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Morristown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nevaeh Sanders led the charge by going 8 of 12 en route to 19 points and eight steals. Sanders has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. Nevaeh Cox was another key player, going 10 for 11 on her way to 20 points and three steals.

Hauser has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season. As for Morristown, they pushed their record up to 12-7 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Hauser wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 55-24 defeat against Christian Academy on the 25th. As for Morristown, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-35 victory against Knightstown on the 27th.
