Softball Recap: McMinn Central Comes Up Short

The matchup between McMinn Central and Meigs County on Monday hardly resembled the 3-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Chargers lost 21-13 to the Tigers. Even if the Chargers couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Jayme Tiberio stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Riley Thompson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and two stolen bases.

McMinn Central now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Meigs County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McMinn Central will venture away from home to take on Bradley Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Meigs County, they will head out to square off against Polk County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
