Baseball Recap: Hoover Victorious

With a playoff win on the line, Hoover rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Normandy Invaders 1-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-3 back in April.

Hoover got a great performance from Jake Donaldson as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over eight innings pitched. Donaldson also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Vikings are undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 10-12 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Hoover's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jack Andes, who went 1-for-5 with one run.

Hoover's win bumped their record up to 15-12. As for Normandy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season.

Hoover will square off against Washington at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Vikings 2.7, the Tigers 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Normandy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
