Basketball Recap: Gavin Bermudez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fairfax over Alexandria City

Fairfax was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They fell 45-36 to the Alexandria City Titans. The Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Titans earlier this season, when they won 50-49.

Fairfax's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavin Bermudez, who posted nine points. Another player making a difference was Cam Yingling, who had six points along with 11 boards and three steals.

Tarik Sesay was his usual excellent self, putting up 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals for Alexandria City. Sesay has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaiden Thompson, who scored 11 points and five boards.

Fairfax's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Alexandria City, their victory bumped their record up to 4-12.

Fairfax will be playing at home against West Springfield at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Alexandria City, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 63-52 win against Friendship Collegiate Academy on the 25th.
