Softball Recap: Manti's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Manti's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the Delta Rabbits 16-0. Considering the Templars' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Aidali Orozco made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance gave her a new career-low in hits. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples and four RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Manti let Chloe Olson and Brinnley Umbrell run wild. Olson scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3, while Umbrell scored two runs while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance gave Olson a new career-high in stolen bases. Hallee Barnes also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Manti was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Manti moved to 2-5 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak. As for Delta, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manti will welcome Gunnison Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Gunnison Valley's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so Manti's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Delta, they will host Canyon View at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Canyon View has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.43 runs per game on average), something Delta will no doubt try to take advantage of.
