Jackie Pollock spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mya Davis, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
The win made it two in a row for Marian Catholic and bumps their season record up to 10-15. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Homewood-Flossmoor, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 13 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Homewood-Flossmoor hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Marian Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
