Softball Recap: Hope Christian Wins Going Away Against Highland

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Hope Christian and Highland meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Huskies blew past the Hornets 22-3. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

Hope Christian got a massive performance out of Ava Jimenez, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Iliana Cordova, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Hope Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .743. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Hope Christian has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Highland, their defeat was their ninth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hope Christian will face off against Del Norte at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Highland, they will take on Rio Grande at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Ravens have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.69 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
