Baseball Recap: Carmel Christian Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Combine Academy National, Carmel Christian was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Caldwell Academy Eagles by a score of 10-5. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2018.

Matthew Abbott looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Carmel Christian is undefeated when Abbott allows two or fewer earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Caden Tarr, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nate Trunck, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Carmel Christian lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more home runs.

Carmel Christian's record now sits at 7-5. As for Caldwell Academy, they dropped their record down to 6-9 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carmel Christian will face off against Christ School at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The last three games the Greenies have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Caldwell Academy, they will challenge Richmond at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
