Soccer Game Preview: St. Charles vs. Cotter

The St. Charles Fighting Saints will head out on the road to take on the Cotter Ramblers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Saturday, St. Charles got the win against Rochester Area HomeSchool by a conclusive 5-1. Considering St. Charles have won three matches by more than three goals this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Cotter kept a clean sheet against Plainview-Elgin-Millville on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 1-0. Given Cotter's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota soccer rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Plainview-Elgin-Millville are ranked 161st) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cotter's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. As for St. Charles, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

St. Charles suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Cotter when the teams last played on September 11th. Can the Fighting Saints avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
