Softball Game Preview: Shiprock Chieftains vs. Kirtland Central Broncos

Shiprock hasn't had much luck against Kirtland Central recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Chieftains will be playing at home against the Broncos at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with eight losses in a row, Shiprock turned things around against Newcomb on Wednesday. They blew past the Skyhawks 22-3. The Chieftains' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

Kirtland Central played against Aztec on Thursday and won via forfeit.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Kirtland Central, bringing their record up to 13-12. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Shiprock, their victory bumped their record up to 7-16.
