Baseball Game Preview: Turner Lions vs. The Colony Cougars

For the second straight game, Turner will face off against The Colony. The Lions will take on the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Turner has now lost 13 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 1.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Turner's offense. They lost 18-0 to The Colony on Tuesday.

For The Colony's part, Rodrigo Oquendo Arreaza and Colton Wood dominated on the mound. Oquendo Arreaza pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Wood tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Oquendo Arreaza has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Trey Rangel and Riley Stewart did most of the damage at the plate: Rangel went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two stolen bases, while Stewart went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Rangel has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Caleb Adams, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

The Colony hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matchups.

The Colony is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Turner, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-18.
