Baseball Recap: Northside Has No Trouble Against Disney II

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Von Steuben, Northside was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They put the hurt on the Disney II Titans with a sharp 16-6 win. That looming 16-6 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Mustangs yet this season.

Rowan Yen made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Jesse Nick was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). John Piper was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles.

Northside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Disney II only posted an OBP of .400.

Northside has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Disney II, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-3.

Looking ahead, Northside will look to defend their home field on Monday against Farragut at 4:30 p.m. This will be the Mustangs' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Disney II, they will head out to square off against Mather at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rangers have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season.
