Softball Recap: Cypress Starts off Right with Win over Kennedy

Cypress took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 9-2 margin over the Kennedy Fighting Irish. The victory continues a trend for the Centurions in their matchups with the Fighting Irish: they've now won six in a row.

Delaney 'D.J.' Faus spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 12 Ks.

On the hitting side, Sadie Sievers was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Brooklyn Montgomery was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Coming up, Cypress will be taking part in a tournament against Granada Hills Charter at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Kennedy, they will face off against Cerritos at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Kennedy is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak dating back to last season.
