Preview: Torrey Pines Falcons vs. El Camino Wildcats
Torrey Pines is 9-1 against El Camino since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Torrey Pines Falcons will be playing at home against the El Camino Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Torrey Pines ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 67-65 victory over La Costa Canyon. Winning may never get old, but Torrey Pines sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Cody Shen was his usual excellent self, scoring 31 points along with three steals and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Matin Madadkar, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Murrieta Valley scored an imposing 58 points on Saturday, El Camino still came out on top. El Camino came out on top in a nail-biter against Murrieta Valley and snuck past 61-58. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win El Camino has posted yet this season.
Torrey Pines is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for El Camino, their victory bumped their record up to 12-10.
Torrey Pines strolled past El Camino in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 63-48. Does Torrey Pines have another victory up their sleeve, or will El Camino turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
