Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Martin

Martin had won two straight games and Cristina Marquez did her part to make it three on Friday. The Martin Tigers strolled past the Roma Gladiators with points to spare, taking the game 59-40 thanks in part to Marquez, who went 8 for 16 en route to 20 points in addition to eight boards and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Martin's points.

Rochelle Cranston was another key player, putting up 12 points. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in blocks (two).

Martin's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-17. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for Roma, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-19.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Martin has already played their next game (against Palmview), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Roma will head out to challenge Rio Grande City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
