Recap: Batesville Bulldogs vs. South Dearborn Knights
The Batesville Bulldogs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. Everything went their way against South Dearborn as Batesville made off with a 60-38 victory. Given Batesville's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while South Dearborn is ranked 332nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Batesville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sophie Gesell, who scored 19 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gesell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Maddie Haskamp, who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds and four steals.
Batesville has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for South Dearborn, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-16.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Batesville will take on Rushville at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Rushville is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for South Dearborn, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against South Ripley at 7:30 p.m. South Ripley will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
