Mildred had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Athens on Tuesday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 3-0 win. While the Eagles didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

While Mildred won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-20, 25-23.

Mildred's victory ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 7-2. As for Athens, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

Coming up, Mildred will head out on the road to square off against Bonham at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Athens, they will be playing at home against Mineola at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
