Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Hallettsville

Hallettsville had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over the Edna Cowboys. Considering the Brahmas have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Caitlynn Halata, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Hanna Zachary, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and one RBI.

Hallettsville hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four strikeouts batters in five consecutive contests.

Hallettsville's victory bumped their record up to 18-3. As for Edna, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Hallettsville will square off against rival Columbus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Brahmas have won 17 straight at home dating back to last season, while the Cardinals won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change. Meanwhile, Edna is set to take on their familiar foe Palacios at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
