Basketball Recap: Ace Peterlin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lake Catholic over Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy

On Friday, the Lake Catholic Cougars ended up a good deal behind the Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy Royals and lost 70-54. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lake Catholic's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ace Peterlin, who went 8 for 15 on his way to 21 points. With that strong performance, Peterlin is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Frankie Trinetti, who posted 12 points.

Lake Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Catholic will challenge Villa Angela-St. Joseph at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Villa Angela-St. Joseph knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine contests -- so hopefully Lake Catholic likes a good challenge. As for Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy, they will face off against East at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy is facing East at the right time seeing as East is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
