Baseball Recap: Coshocton Takes a Loss

Coshocton had lost five straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 2-10 to make it six. They came up short against the Strasburg-Franklin Tigers, falling 12-3. If the Redskins were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Tigers when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Strasburg-Franklin, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

For Strasburg-Franklin's part, Bradyn Whitman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits. Whitman has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Strasburg-Franklin got a massive performance out of Brodie Hurst, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave Hurst a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Baughmam, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coshocton will head out to take on Crooksville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Strasburg-Franklin, they will venture away from home to challenge Buckeye Trail at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 4.1, the Warriors 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
