Football Recap: Mojave Piles Up the Points Against Pinecrest Academy Cadence + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mojave). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Pinecrest Academy Cadence Cougars 53-0. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Rattlers just coasted through the last quarter.

Mojave's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB 7.5 times. Leading the way was Deandre Ewings with two sacks. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with seven. Mojave got some further help from Demico Zamora: he picked up a sack, made five total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defended two passes in addition to snagging an interception.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed 29 in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Zamora, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a punt return touchdown from S'Marion Coleman.

Mojave's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Pinecrest Academy Cadence, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mojave will welcome Somerset Academy Losee at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rattlers will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 42 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Pinecrest Academy Cadence, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Del Sol at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
