Preview: Roma Gladiators vs. Mission Eagles
The Roma Gladiators will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Mission Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th. Mission took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Roma, who comes in off a win.
Last Saturday, Roma didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Banquete, but they still walked away with a 41-37 victory. The win was just what Roma needed coming off of a 63-33 loss in their prior game.
Meanwhile, Mission's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by Los Fresnos 83-46. While losing is never fun, Mission can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1332nd, while Los Fresnos is ranked 281st).
Roma's win bumped their record up to 1-10. As for Mission, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13-1 record this season.
Roma came up short against Mission when the teams last played back in November of 2016, falling 55-49. Can Roma avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
