Recap: Southern Academy Cougars vs. Clarke Prep Gators
After a string of ten wins, the Southern Academy Cougars's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 38-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clarke Prep. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Southern Academy has scored all season.
Southern Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Layken Horton, who scored six points, and Margaret Cooper who scored four points along with three steals.
Southern Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Southern Academy's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-1. As for Clarke Prep, they pushed their record up to 2-3 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
Southern Academy and Patrician Academy will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 11th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Clarke Prep, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Bessemer Academy at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Bessemer Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Saturday.
