Recap: Pendleton Bulldogs vs. Wren Hurricanes
The Pendleton Bulldogs pushed their score all the way to 55 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Wren 61-55. Pendleton has not had much luck with Wren recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Pendleton's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Gray, who scored 17 points. Gray continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Brice Bolt was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
It was another big night for Abijah Franklin, who scored 28 points along with three steals for Wren. That makes it five consecutive games in which Franklin has scored at least 25% of Wren's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cal Godfrey, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Pendleton has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Wren, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Pendleton will be home for the holidays to greet Prince Avenue Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Prince Avenue Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 464th in Georgia, while Pendleton is ranked 217th in South Carolina). As for Wren, they will head out on the road to face off against Woodmont at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
