Softball Recap: Goleman Takes a Loss

The matchup between Goleman and Mater Lakes Academy on Wednesday hardly resembled the 1-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Gators came up short against the Bears, falling 16-6. The Gators were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2022.

Goleman saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Britney Cintas, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Cintas also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another was Olivia Mata, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Goleman has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Mater Lakes Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Coming up, Goleman will host Flanagan at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.45 runs per game on average), something the Gators will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mater Lakes Academy, they are taking a road trip to challenge Miami Country Day at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
