Football Game Preview: Concordia Cardinals vs. St. Mary's Rams

The Concordia Cardinals will venture away from home to face off against the St. Mary's Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Concordia is looking for their season's first victory.

It was a proper cat-fight when Concordia challenged Coram Deo Academy last Friday. The Cardinals were outmatched by the Lions and fell 62-13. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 185th, while the Lions are ranked 43rd).

Concordia might have lost, but man, Henry Kalbas was a machine: he rushed for 124 yards on only 11 carries. Kalbas' longest rush was for an impressive 50 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Meanwhile, St. Mary's took a blow against Waco Christian on Friday, falling 92-47.

Concordia's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for St. Mary's, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Concordia strolled past St. Mary's when the teams last played back in September of 2024 by a score of 68-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
