Basketball Game Preview: Calvary Christian Academy Lions vs. Central Florida Christian Academy Eagles

The Calvary Christian Academy Lions will head out to face off against the Central Florida Christian Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Calvary Christian Academy heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Friday. They fell 66-58 to Mount Dora Christian Academy. The defeat continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the loss, Calvary Christian Academy got top-tier performance from Samantha Lecas, who went 8 of 15 from beyond the arc to rack up 31 points along with six boards and three steals. What's more, Lecas also posted a 53% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in November of 2024. Keeva Heggins was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 13 points and nine steals.

Even though they lost, Calvary Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in seven consecutive games.

Fans were treated to a Battle of the Eagles on Thursday. Central Florida Christian Academy claimed a resounding 61-22 win over Altamonte Christian. Given Central Florida Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while Altamonte Christian is ranked 221st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory (which was Central Florida Christian Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 18-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points over those games. As for Calvary Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.

Calvary Christian Academy took a serious blow against Central Florida Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2022, falling 62-33. Can Calvary Christian Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
