The Wylie East Raiders will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Tyler Legacy Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Wylie East is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
Wylie East stacked a seventh blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Rowlett 49-8 at home. Given Wylie East's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 80th, while Rowlett is ranked 528th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wylie East's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Howard Fisher iv, who threw for 135 yards and three touchdowns while completing 90.9% of his passes, and Keveyon Thorne, who gained 113 total yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Kason Atkins, who picked up 57 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 52-21, which was the final score in Tyler Legacy's tilt against Rockwall on Friday. Tyler Legacy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-0.
Despite their defeat, Tyler Legacy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Von Lane, who threw for 226 yards and two touchdowns on only 19 passes, was perhaps the best of all. Kavion Hall was another key contributor, gaining 108 total yards and a touchdown.
Wylie East pushed their record up to 9-1 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 51.33 points. As for Tyler Legacy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.
