Basketball Recap: Triangle Math & Science Academy Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Triangle Math & Science Academy lost against Franklin Academy back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Tigers were outmatched by the Patriots and fell 59-30. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 388th, while the Patriots are ranked 180th).

Triangle Math & Science Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Hansen Howard, who posted seven points.

Franklin Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dylan Smith led the charge by putting up six points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Those seven assists gave Smith a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Barnes, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine boards.

Triangle Math & Science Academy's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-5. As for Franklin Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-3.

That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Jailen Hawkins and Darin Jones. Meanwhile, Franklin Academy is set to take on their familiar foe East Wake Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
