Basketball Game Preview: Shelby County Rockets vs. Woodford County Yellowjackets

Shelby County is 0-7 against Woodford County since February of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Shelby County Rockets will take on the Woodford County Yellowjackets at 8:00 p.m. One thing working in Shelby County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matches.

Last Friday, Shelby County earned a 66-59 win over Henry County. The Rockets haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Bryan Station typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Woodford County proved too difficult a challenge. They put the hurt on the Defenders with a sharp 56-34 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Yellowjackets' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while the Defenders are ranked fifth).

Shelby County's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-21. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points over those games. As for Woodford County, they now have a winning record of 12-11.

Shelby County suffered a grim 82-57 defeat to Woodford County in their previous matchup back in January. Can Shelby County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
