Volleyball Recap: Tenley Davis and Gabby Schneider Secure Win for Mt. Carmel

Mt. Carmel hadn't done well against Newton recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Golden Aces won by a set and slipped past the Eagles 2-1. For the Golden Aces, this counts as revenge for the 2-0 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Mt. Carmel got the one that really mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 17-25, 25-11.

Leading Mt. Carmel to victory were Gabby Schneider and Tenley Davis. Schneider had 13 digs and 13 assists, while Davis had ten digs and two assists. Those 13 digs gave Schneider a new career-high.

The win got Mt. Carmel back to even at 11-11. As for Newton, their defeat ended a three-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matches. Mt. Carmel will head out to face off against Paris at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games the Tigers have played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Newton, they will venture away from home to take on Marshall at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
