Softball Recap: Shekinah Christian Comes Up Short

Shekinah Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-11 heartbreaker at the hands of the Northside Christian Lions. Even if the Flames couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Mia Pierce and Ali Troyer stepped up to the plate in a big way. Pierce went 5-for-6 with three runs, while Troyer got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Abigail De Telder, who went 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

Shekinah Christian's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Northside Christian, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-5.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Shekinah Christian is set to challenge their familiar foe Genoa Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Northside Christian will take on rival Madison Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
