Baseball Recap: Milton Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Milton took on Baldwin County on Friday. The Milton Panthers fell just short of the Baldwin County Tigers by a score of 3-2. The game marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Cade Burdette put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Burdette wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jake Albrecht, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Albrecht also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Milton's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Baldwin County, their victory bumped their record up to 4-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Milton will head out to take on Gulf Breeze at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gulf Breeze's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Milton's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Baldwin County, they are taking a road trip to square off against Northridge on Thursday.
