Softball Recap: Butler Comes Up Short

Butler lost against Lamar back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bears fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 9-7. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kylee Dubray was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out nine batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season.

Butler now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Lamar, their record now sits at 7-4.

Butler has already played their next match, a 6-5 win against Lincoln on the 14th. As for Lamar, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-9 victory against Diamond on the 14th.
