Baseball Recap: Kasson-Mantorville Comes Up Short

Pine Island hit Kasson-Mantorville with a five-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Komets took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The Komets haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Kasson-Mantorville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grady Babcock, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Brock Weis also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Kasson-Mantorville's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Pine Island, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-1.

Looking ahead, Kasson-Mantorville will head out on the road to square off against Stewartville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pine Island, they will venture away from home to face off against Plainview-Elgin-Millville at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
