Softball Recap: Rice Lake Takes Down Ranked Menomonie

Rice Lake faced Menomonie in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Warriors came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 7-3. This was a revenge game for the Warriors: when they faced off against the Mustangs last Tuesday, they had to take a 3-2 defeat.

Kamryn Kunz made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Madi Rowe was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ava Anderson, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Rice Lake now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Menomonie, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Coming up, Rice Lake will face off against New Richmond at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Menomonie, they will head out to face off against Wausau East at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
