Softball Recap: Cumberland County Panthers vs. Barren County Trojans
Cumberland County had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 8-12 to make it four. They lost 8-0 to the Barren County Trojans. The shutout was out of character for the Panthers seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.
As for Barren County, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.
For Barren County's part, the result came thanks to Shea Bogue's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, Norah Shirley was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Gracie Myatt, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cumberland County will challenge Glasgow at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
