Basketball Recap: Ysleta Comes Up Short

Ysleta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They came up short against the Clint Lions, falling 52-26. The Indians were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-11.

Clint's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chloe Arredondo led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Arredondo has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Anabella Portillo, who went 7 of 13 en route to 18 points and six steals.

Ysleta's loss dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Clint, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-7.

Ysleta and Clint's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Ysleta will face off against Mountain View at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, a squad that's only allowed 28.14 points per game. Meanwhile, Clint and Fabens (who has only given up 29.22 points per game) will meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
