High school football rankings: Carl Albert headlines Oklahoma Preseason MaxPreps Top 25

Three-star Oklahoma commit Xavier Robinson looks to lead Carl Albert to second straight state crown.

The 2023 high school football season in Oklahoma kicks off later this month and MaxPreps has your look at the state's top teams. Defending state champion Carl Albert (Midwest City) owns the No. 1 spot in the Preseason MaxPreps Top 25.

Carl Albert captured the program's 17th state championship to move into a tie for third place for most state titles in state history with a 49-7 victory over McAlester in the Class 5A state title game last season.

Three-star Oklahoma commit Xavier Robinson returns in the backfield to head the Titans' rushing attack again after recording 276 carries for 2,594 yards and 39 touchdowns as a junior. Senior signal caller Kash Ferris also is returning after throwing for 882 yards with seven totals touchdowns last season.

Including Carl Albert (Midwest City) in Class 5A, other defending state champions include Stillwater in Class 6A-II, Bixby in Class 6A-I, Wagoner in Class 4A, Heritage Hall (Oklahoma City) in Class 3A, Washington in Class 2A, Fairview in Class A, Laverne in Class B and Tipton in Class C.
