It was a good run, but East Mecklenburg unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They lost 15-8 to the Independence Patriots. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 7-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Samuel Thompson was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.

East Mecklenburg's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 10-5. As for Independence, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-10.

While East Mecklenburg had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
