Softball Recap: Cornerstone Christian Comes Up Short

Cornerstone Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Eagle Pass Eagles. If the Warriors were looking for revenge after losing 11-2 to the Eagles when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Elisa Hernandez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Cornerstone Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Eagle Pass, they pushed their record up to 14-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cornerstone Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Marion at 6:00 p.m. on April 11. As for Eagle Pass, they will be playing at home against Laredo LBJ at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
