Flag Football Recap: Alina Torrance-Guignard and Audra Guillory Pace El Capitan Defense

If El Capitan was feeling good fresh off their 42-6 takedown of El Cajon Valley on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Vaqueros fell just short of the West Hills Wolf Pack by a score of 26-24 on Thursday. Despite 177 more yards than the Wolf Pack, the Vaqueros couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

When it comes to explaining why El Capitan lost, don't look at Kylee Frazier. Despite the final result, she threw for 291 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 99 yards. Frazier has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times she's played. A healthy portion of Frazier's aerial production (121 yards to be exact) went to Jameson Spencer, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 2.8 yards per carry. The team can thank Ravan Haizlip for the heroic effort on defense: she. El Capitan didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 15.4.

El Capitan's defense also made the game a nightmare for Deanna Khalil, racking up eight sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Alina Torrance-Guignard and Audra Guillory, who racked up six sacks between them. El Capitan got some further help from Haizlip: she made nine total tackles and snagged an interception.

El Capitan's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-6. As for West Hills, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-4.

El Capitan has already played their next game, a 22-12 victory against Valhalla on the 7th. As for West Hills, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 27-6 win against Monte Vista on the 7th.
