Basketball Recap: New Prairie Takes a Loss

New Prairie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by the South Bend Washington Panthers 70-42. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 75-62 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

New Prairie lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Brody Wiginton, who posted 11 points and six rebounds. Hunter Nelson also deserves some recognition as he pulled down his first boards of the season.

It was another big night for Steven Reynolds, who went 10 for 22 to rack up 26 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals for South Bend Washington. Reynolds continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kelin Webster, who made all 5 shots he took for 11 points along with seven boards and three steals.

New Prairie's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for South Bend Washington, their win bumped their record up to 13-4.

New Prairie has already played their next matchup (against Bremen), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. South Bend Washington also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Mishawaka.
