Basketball Recap: Maryville Christian Takes a Loss

Maryville Christian managed to keep up with Sandoval until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Maryville Christian Lions came up short against the Sandoval Blackhawks, falling 57-37. The Lions were probably out for revenge after losing 48-31 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Amiya Ray continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Sandoval, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 18 boards. That's the most rebounds Ray has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Harlie Harper, who posted seven points in addition to six assists and three steals.

Maryville Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Sandoval, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-9.

The future could be bright for both Maryville Christian and Sandoval: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Maryville Christian will try to hand Bunker Hill their 14th-straight loss when the two meet at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Similarly, Sandoval will look to extend Martinsville's five-game losing streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
